Jeremy's Sound Volume CSM 1.1.5 What is it? Jeremy's Sound Volume CSM is a Control Strip module that is designed as a direct replacement for Apple's Sound Volume module. While this module allows you to set the current volume level from a popup menu, it also shows the current volume level, something Apple's module lacks. Compatibility The Sound Volume CSM will work on any Macintosh. Installing the Sound Volume CSM If you are using Mac OS 8.5 or earlier, you must drag the Control Strip Module to the Control Strip folder inside your System folder. If you are using Mac OS 8.6 or later, the Mac OS will recognize the Control Strip - merely drag it to your System Folder, and the Mac OS will move it automatically for you. With Mac OS 8.5 or earlier: 1) Open your System folder. 2) Copy the Control Strip Module to the Control Strip Folder in your System folder. 3) Restart your computer. Configuring the Sound Volume CSM When the Control Strip first appears after restarting, the Volume module should be displayed. The number to the left of the speaker is the current sound level (0 to 7). The "sound waves" radiating from the speaker will also get bigger as the volume is set louder.   You can set the volume with the popup menu associated with the module. To make the menu appear, click down anywhere on the volume portion of the Control Strip, and it will pop up.   The volume can be set between 0 (off) and 7 (loudest). The current volume level will have the dot next to it. To change the volume, just choose another number. Beep after changing volume If selected, this Control Strip will beep once whenever you change the volume or left/right balance. Turning it off may be desirable if you are using headphones to listen to an audio CD.
